Statement – Victor Borg AM

On behalf of the Liberal Nationals I extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Victor Borg AM, as well as our broader Multicultural communities during this sad time.

Victor Borg was born in Gzira, Malta in 1941. In 1955, at the age of 14, Victor and his family immigrated to Australia. He was educated at St Joseph’s College, and the Lyceum College, Malta, and at the Marcellin and Taylors Colleges in Melbourne.

In 1963 he graduated Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Melbourne, and was admitted to practice as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1964. In 1965 Victor pursued post-graduate studies in Law in London, graduating with a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of London in 1966.

Victor Borg became a leading force and advocate for the migrants and multicultural communities here in Victoria, serving as a member of the ECCV since its inception in 1974, and as its Chairman from 1991 until 1997.

The legacy of Victor Borg will live on through the many contributions he made to our strong, multicultural and multifaith state and nation.

On behalf of the Liberal Nationals I extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Victor Borg AM, as well as our broader Multicultural communities during this sad time.
