If elected, a Matthew Guy Liberal Nationals Government will commit $250,000 to construct a staff car park at Livingstone Primary School.
Despite the matter having been raised in Parliament and multiple written requests to the State Minister for Education by local Member for Forest Hill Neil Angus MP, the Andrews Government has refused to fund this project.
This much needed local facility will directly benefit school staff, parents, and teachers, but also local Forest Hill residents who currently have to put up with extra traffic and parking problems in nearby roads and carparks.
Comments attributable to the Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“I’m delighted to announce that a Matthew Guy led Liberal government will build a much needed staff car park at Livingstone Primary School if elected in November.”
“With 830 students and over 60 members of staff, Livingstone Primary School is a vibrant and fast-growing school and requires a staff car parking facility to ease traffic congestion and improve pedestrian and motorist safety in and around Livingstone Road.
Comments attributable to the Member for Forest Hill, Neil Angus:
“Given the growth of the school and its close proximity to the local sporting precinct of the Vermont South Club, incorporating lawn bowls, tennis and darts clubs, parking is at capacity on local roads.
“I’ve been working with Livingstone Primary School Principal, Steve Shaw and the local community over many years to find a solution to the on-street parking problems in Livingstone Road, with the safety of both the school community and local residents in mind.
