Shadow Minister for Youth drops into Youth Education Support op-shop
Shadow Minister for Young Victorians and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan recently dropped into the Youth Education Support op-shop at Forest Hill.
Ms Ryan joined the Member for Forest Hill, Neil Angus, last week in visiting with staff to learn more about the shop’s important work.
“All the profit from sales goes directly towards helping disadvantaged young people gain an education,” Ms Ryan said.
“I was very impressed by the dedication of the volunteers who give of their time so that young people have the best possible opportunity to access education.”
Member for Forest Hill Neil Angus said it was a fantastic opportunity to show Ms Ryan such a wonderful local voluntary organisation. Mr Angus, in his role as the Member for Forest Hill, has had the opportunity to visit the premises on many occasions and view the facilities and activities being conducted.
Youth Education Support Inc is chaired by local campaigner for disadvantaged youth, Julia Mosley and operates with a volunteer board of current or retired professionals, as well as a Sponsorship Panel.
The group is registered by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits commission and is a member of Our Community Matters, Pilch Connect and Fundraising Institute of Australia.
Ms Ryan said she continued to be inspired by the selfless volunteers she met daily across Victoria.
Mr Angus said that the level of commitment shown by the more than sixty local volunteers who assist this organisation was a great example to the community.
