An elected Matthew Guy led Liberal Nationals Government will commit $2.3 million to upgrade the staff and administrative facilities at Orchard Grove Primary School in Blackburn South.
The funding will allow Orchard Grove Primary School to plan and upgrade its administrative, meeting and staff facilities, as well as significantly improve its toilet facilities for students and staff.
681 students and 470 families in the Forest Hill electorate will benefit from the investment in Orchard Grove Primary School and will allow for more educational opportunities to be provided to the local community.
Despite the matter having been raised in Parliament and multiple requests having been made to the Minister for Education by Member for Forest Hill, Neil Angus in conjunction with the local community’s efforts, the Andrews Labor Government has continued to ignore the school’s infrastructure needs.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“Orchard Grove Primary School has an outstanding reputation for quality education and it isn’t fair the school community has such a poor state of staff facilities and student toilets.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to redeveloping Orchard Grove Primary School and give local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”
Comments attributable to Member for Forest Hill, Neil Angus:
“Orchard Grove Primary School is a very high achieving school with a strong school community. It faces continuing growth in its numbers due to the quality education it delivers and due to a number of residential developments in the local area.
The project can wait no longer. I am delighted that a Liberal Nationals Government will support Orchard Grove Primary School and the local community by providing this much needed infrastructure funding.”
