Healesville Freeway Reserve – Labor lie exposed in Parliament

The Labor Government has been exposed in the Victorian Parliament as misleading Forest Hill residents over the proposed sell-off of the Healesville Freeway Reserve in Forest Hill.

Last Thursday, Neil Angus MP, State Member for Forest Hill asked a question of the Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews in Parliament’s Question Time, regarding the recent revelation that parts of the Healesville Freeway Reserve (HFR) will be sold off.

“Premier, on 25 February 2014 you visited the Forest Hill electorate and stood on a stump in the Healesville Freeway Reserve in Forest Hill and promised not to sell any land within that Reserve.

“On that day you issued a press release stating that, ‘Victorian Labor will preserve the Healesville Freeway Reserve between Boronia Road and Springvale Road as public open space.’ ” said Mr Angus in the Victorian Parliament last week.

Correspondence from VicRoads to the City of Whitehorse dated 13 April 2018 reveals that the Government is now selling parts of the HFR.

Mr Angus went on to ask in the Victorian Parliament; “Premier, why did you make false promises to the residents of Forest Hill, telling them before the election Labor would not sell land within the Reserve and then after the election proceed to do just that?”

“This broken promise shows that the Premier and Labor cannot be trusted to keep their promises, no matter how publicly they are made,” Mr Angus said today.
