State Member for Forest Hill, Neil Angus MP today joined with the Orchard Grove Primary School community in Blackburn South, in requesting that the Andrews’ State Government match the $1.8 million funding commitment made to upgrade the school’s facilities, prior to last year’s State Election by the former State Government.
Mr Angus today tabled a petition in State Parliament signed by over 475 local families and school supporters, calling on the Government to recognise and allocate the much needed funding.
“As you may be aware, prior to last year’s State Election, I was able to secure from the former Victorian Government a funding commitment of $1.8 million to upgrade the facilities at this growing local school, should it be re-elected,” Mr Angus said.
“Unfortunately, the newly-elected Andrews’ State Government has not met this funding commitment, which is urgently needed to modernise and expand the school’s administrative and staff facilities, as well as to significantly upgrade its toilet and first aid facilities for staff and students.
“Consequently, I am now seeking this funding from the State Government, in conjunction with the Orchard Grove Primary School community. Today, I have tabled a petition in the Legislative Assembly of the Victorian Parliament, requesting that this funding be allocated.
“As the State Member for Forest Hill, I will continue to advocate strongly for better local facilities in our schools and fight for a positive outcome for the Forest Hill community and for Orchard Grove Primary School,” Mr Angus said.
The petition is still available to be signed at the Office of Neil Angus MP, 4 Lawrence Street, Blackburn South.
