It is with profound sadness that I send my thoughts and prayers to the citizens of Lebanon and Victoria’s Lebanese community, following the horrific and devastating explosion overnight in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.
This explosion has devastated a large area of Beirut leaving thousands of people injured, with dozens of people losing their lives in this disaster.
Lebanon is a resilient nation with its people enduring many hardships throughout the years; however, their strong spirit has enabled them always to overcome any obstacle that may be put in their path.
This tragic event has again highlighted the enduring Lebanese spirit of never giving up in the eyes of pain and suffering.
Amid this immense sadness, we hope Victoria’s Lebanese community can take some comfort in knowing that they are in the hearts and minds of Victorians.
