Neil was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the District of Forest Hill on 27 November 2010 and was re-elected with an increased majority in November 2014.
Shortly after the election, Neil was appointed as the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to the Shadow Treasurer and was elected as the Secretary to both the Parliamentary Liberal Party and the Victoria Coalition. In September 2017, Neil was appointed as the Shadow Assistant Minister for Treasury.
Having Served as a member of the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee and VicHealth Board member in the 57th Parliament, Neil was appointed as Chairman of the Accountability and Oversight Committee in the 58th Parliament.
Prior to entering Parliament, Neil was a Chartered Accountant in public practice for over twenty five years, specialising in audit and investigations. Neil is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand and a Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Neil holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Investigations. Neil was a Registered Tax Agent from 1983-2009, a Registered Company Auditor from 1992-2011 and a Certified Fraud Examiner from 2005 to 2012.
Neil has been actively involved in the community for many years, serving on the board of a wide range of not for profit organisations, including his children’s school and his local church.
Neil is a long time resident of the eastern suburbs, is married with four children and in his spare time enjoys family activities, cycling, walking and AFL (Essendon).
